Living and Dining7 Most Beautiful Terrazzo Tiles For Walls & Floors

They may date back hundreds of years, but time hasn’t dampened the world’s love affair with terrazzo tiles. In fact, with just the right amount of texture and all the Mediterranean feels, terrazzo-look tiles have cemented themselves as the flooring of choice for countless Australian renovators.

While traditional styles were made by mixing materials like granite and marble fragments to create the signature speckled effect, modern methods for creating terrazzo-look tiles are quicker, easier and more affordable. And the end result is just as incredible.

We chatted with Product Specialist, Ms Gilding of Beaumont Tiles, to talk all things terrazzo. We’ve also uncovered the hottest terrazzo-look tiles in the country right now – so prepare to swoon, because we sure are.

What Are Terrazzo Tiles?

Terrazzo is a type of composite stone flooring that traditionally featured fragments of granite, marble or stone to create a speckled effect. It can be traced right back to the mosaics of ancient Egypt, but really found its footing in eighteenth-century Venice, where it was used for building (rather beautiful) pavements.

But, while spectacular in appearance, the use of traditional materials to make terrazzo flooring has its downsides. For starters, it’s highly porous and not suitable for wet rooms, and it’s also very expensive.

How Beaumont Terrazzo Tiles Are Different

Beaumont has revolutionised popular flooring by creating a range with all the wow factor of traditional terrazzo tiles, but without the fuss, care and high costs of the past.

The range uses a mostly porcelain base tile instead of stone, plus a custom aggregate to nail that speckled effect we all love. Best of all, it’s low maintenance, a cinch to clean and some even come with slip-resistance.

Features of Beaumont Terrazzo-Look Tiles:

  • Easy to clean
  • Highly durable
  • Porcelain base
  • Suitable for wet rooms
  • Microtec slip-resistance
