In a renovation of epic proportions, a Gold Coast property has been transformed into a picture-perfect Hamptons-style abode.

First built in 2000, the large family home at 2 Christa Way, Benowa Waters was purchased by a Queensland couple in 2020 for a reported price of $1.1 million. And what happened next was a masterclass in modern renovation and design.

Sitting on a spacious 1039m² corner allotment, what was originally a six-bedroom home has been transformed into an eight-bedroom living retreat. And, in facilitating extended stays for family and friends, there’s even a two-bedroom, fully-contained granny flat out the back.

The beachy Hamptons exterior uses swathes of white and touches of grey in keeping with the classic Long Island look. And the interior keeps the theme flowing.

Wainscoting, wool carpets and light-oak floorboards flow throughout the home adding warmth and texture to the traditional white palette.

On the ground floor, an oversized barn door leads to a private media room with a large projector screen and plenty of space for lounge furniture. A light-filled laundry offers loads of storage and bench space and features a fully tiled splashback and an external access door.

A hamptons-style kitchen boasts a six-burner SMEG cooktop, shaker doors on all cabinetry and a huge island bench finished with a Calacutta marble benchtop. Dreamy sheers decorate the windows accentuating the coastal aesthetic.

Five of the bedrooms are on the first floor, along with a designer ensuite, two bathrooms and a storage closet. There’s even a handy study nook built into the first-floor landing.

Other internal features include floor-to-ceiling tiling in the bathrooms, a freestanding bathtub, ducted air-conditioning and ceiling fans throughout and a Real Flame fireplace in the living area.

The home’s exterior boasts a glorious undercover alfresco area, fully equipped with built-in bbq facilities. There’s also a large saltwater lap pool finished with Travertine pavers and surrounded by low-maintenance Astro Turf.
