We chatted with interior design specialist, Bronwyn Aldridge of Bronz DC to find out five savvy ways to add a splash of Hamptons goodness to your bathroom renovation. So get ready to start bringing those renovation dreams to life!

White, White and More White!

Among the abundant versions of white available, it is an abundant amount of ‘bright white’ that truly speaks to the Hamptons genre. Having said this, you can certainly add subtly different shades of white to the room, so long as it is consistent throughout.

Tiling can include subway tiles for a traditional Hamptons look, or large format tiles for a modern Hamptons look – so long as they are … you guessed it, white!

And don’t forget your windows; white plantation shutters and sheers work beautifully, or if you prefer your windows undressed, simply paint the frames a bright white.

Shaker! Shaker!

There are several cabinet and drawer fronts available nowadays, but it is the shaker door profile that fits the Hamptons style perfectly.

Shaker profile is the term to describe a panel with has a clean and simple square routed into the door. You can get variations on the width of the outer rail or the depth of the routed section. Also, the angle at which the routed section is chamfered can vary. Regardless, you will achieve a Hamptons look with any of these shaker profiles on your bathroom furniture.

Heritage Handles

Traditionally, cup pull or knob handles are what are fixed to Hamptons-inspired cabinetry. Cup pull or knob handles that have more intricate detail on them will create a traditional Hamptons look. Plain, shiny chrome handles will provide a classic look.

Make A Statement With Pendants

Grand pendant lights are commonplace in a Hamptons design. And while traditional pendants have metal frames with a clear glass case around the bulb, modern bathrooms are embracing a range of styles, including metallics.

In a bathroom setting, pendant selection comes with a caveat, they must be rated in accordance with the Australian Standards electrical code and have the appropriate wet area rating, which will likely be a minimum IP44. Your lighting retailer or designer will be able to advise on this further.

A Splash Of Colour

Many renovators choose to fuse design styles by mixing colour with a clean white Hamptons palette.

Coastal Hamptons will incorporate blue accents. In a bathroom, this may be the use of a patterned floor tile, paint or décor such as blue towels. However, ‘Modern Hamptons’ often incorporates a monochrome palette, with black cabinet hardware or a statement black vanity.
