From cramped and dated to fresh and functional, Nouvelle’s Cammeray kitchen reno is a masterclass in smart design and everyday luxury.
When a Sydney couple snapped up a beautifully positioned home in Cammeray, it was a welcome end to a very long search. But while the location was perfect, the original 1960s home desperately needed some new design and functionality to bring it into the modern day.

Bigger and brighter
Michael from Nouvelle explains that the original kitchen was dated and closed-off, accessible only through a narrow doorway off the main corridor.
“A lot of the rooms were very cramped and tight, so they really wanted to focus their budget on some high-end joinery and also making if feel more spacious and more luxurious as well.”
Michael, Nouvelle Designer Kitchens
Tasked with a brief to farewell the cramped kitchen and embrace open-plan living, Nouvelle widened the kitchen entrace and removed a major internal wall.

By eliminating the dividing wall between the kitchen and living room, the team achieved a seemless connection between the two zones with unobstruted views from the Smartstone bench right through to the sunny balcony.
The dramatic stuctural changes not only make the home feel more spacious, but floods it with natural light for a brighter, more welcoming home.
Elements of warmth

White kitchens will never go out of style, but they can feel sterile and stark. To combat this and balance the crisp white backdrop, Nouvelle added walnut laminate cabinetry.
As well as bringing instant luxe to the space, it injects texture, timeless appeal and just the right amount of warmth to the heart of the home. Even better – you’ll never see a fingermark!
An cupboard with a difference

When it comes to functionality in this kitchen, the appliance cupboard is a showstopper!
Knowing that a standard door would block the natural light from the window, the team built a clever pocket door. This means a seamless look with the door closed and a fully accessible cupboard when it’s time to cook.
