If you want to spruce up a wall without touching a tin of paint, Damian’s living room wallpaper makeover is the inspiration you need.
Using Grafico self-adhesive wallpaper, Damian transformed his bare living room wall into a spectacular focal point – not to mention a talking point!
He chose Giant Eucalypt, one of his “all-time favourite designs” and something he designed a few years back for Sarah and George on The Block.
“Originally we did it in a green tone, but this time I printed it in a more warm tone with a worn linen background, which suited the aesthetic better.”
Installation took very little time, requiring just one stop to cut around the TV mount.
Decor and styling
With the room’s incredible backdrop secured, it was time to style the space to complement the tones and textures in the wallpaper.
First, Damian arranged faux flowers, books and a very proud gold flamingo for the lowline entertainment unit.
“I then overlaid the art TV with some contrasting artwork and then I flicked on the LED fireplace. Yes, I know it’s fake, but it was the only way I could get a fireplace into this room without demolishing half the house!”
“This one is made from real timber from England, so it’s certainly the best one I could find. I then had it installed in some custom joinery, which I designed with the help of the masters at Mr Cabinets.
Cosiness dialled up
The warm tone and soft textures work just as beautifully at night as they do during the day.
Damian says that at night “it’s giving lots of warm and cosy vibes, which is exactly the look that we’re after.” Daytime is just as inviting with the wallpaper “mirroring some of the real Australian native trees that are actually outside.”
Paired with light sheers and a huge window, this is a room that calls you in and welcomes with open arms.
