Kids’ rooms are no place for blandness, but how do you inject colour and personality without breaking the bank? The answer is kids’ room wallpaper, and just wait until you see this transformation!
After purchasing a beautiful lakeside property, Damian knew something had to be done about his daughter’s boxy and bare bedroom.

“Originally, the room was just lacking any real pizazz. It was just this white, uninspiring box and I had to get something interesting into here to get her settled into her new big girl bedroom.”
Damian’s three-year-old tasked him with a renovation brief that included “pink” and “ballerinas.” The room should be inviting and pretty without being generic. It had to be perfect … because toddlers expect nothing less.
A perfect pairing
Wallpaper was the most creative and cost-effective way for Damian to achieve an incredible result fast, and he wasted no time in selecting his prints.
But while most people opt for a single print or colour throughout a space, Damian got creative with his wallpaper selection, using not one but two premium Grafico selections to re-create the room.

“While I don’t shop at Gucci Kids, I was actually walking through one of their stores and took some inspo as they had mixed gingham-check with striped wallpaper.”
Theoretically, this mash-up of classic patterns shouldn’t work, but the store was evidence enough that print combos can create magic – and Damian was ready to try it for himself in his daughter’s room.
“Drawing from that inspo, I overscaled the Gingham Check and the Stripes using a pastel palette of light sage and pink.”

Damian used the same print on opposite walls to create contrast AND continuity. Two walls were finished in sage-green Gingham Check Gingham Check and two in the Vertical Stripe Blush and the result is both dreamy and cohesive.
Finishing touches
The addition of two adorable box-framed prints from the Grafico Australis Print Series was the cherry on the cake of this kids’ room makeover. Both feature adorable Australian animals in neutral notes with a touch of pink.

New wood-front inserts and brass handles spruced up a tired wall unit and added some wow. And finally, an exquisite ballerina bedspread tied the entire room together.
