Swedish flat-pack powerhouse IKEA is turning up the colour across Australia, launching a new 29-piece collection including lighting, decor, toys, textiles and storage for kids, and kids-at-heart.

The GREJSIMOJS (grey-jee-moy-jss, if you’re brave) range is designed to remind us that play doesn’t magically disappear when we grow up.

And the range has some powerful data driving its inspiration. IKEA’s latest Play Report revealed 21% of parents are spending more time playing with their children than they were a few years ago, while more than half want to do even more of it. Everything in the new collection not only looks joyful, but is also built for real life. Think bumps, spills, sticky fingers and big imaginations. And prices start at just $6.

Designed for children aged 12 months through to 6+, every piece in the GREJSIMOJS range has been carefully tested to meet age-appropriate safety standards. It’s made for kids, but it doesn’t forget the adults who still love a little whimsy in their space.

Designers were given the freedom to lean into curiosity and imagination while keeping things modern and home-friendly. A bold rug might feel like a design choice to you, but to a crawling baby, it’s a whole world to explore.

The collection also flips the idea of ‘hands off’ household items on its head. Inspired by childhood memories of being told not to touch, designers intentionally created pieces that invite interaction. The LED giraffe lamp is a perfect example. With its movable head and soft, friendly feel, it’s designed to be handled, played with and loved, not admired from afar.

Some long-time favourites have also been reimagined. The iconic MAMMUT chair, an IKEA kids’ staple for more than 30 years, now arrives in fuzzy bright pink and electric blue.

Storage gets a personality makeover too, with cat-shaped organisers, mouse-inspired speakers in bold colours and a storage pouffe that hides a cheeky grin inside, transforming into a friendly monster ready to swallow up toys.
